Most people have at least one brief encounter with the condition known as hemorrhoids during their life, but there are even more who suffer from the condition for very long periods of time.
There are numerous different treatment options, from oral medication to creams, to special targeted physical exercise. Many people have found their most effective remedy is in at least one of these methods. I would like to throw my hat in the ring and present what I think is a very efficient treatment approach that is easy to to put into motion: the hemorrhoid diet.
Why Is It Efficient?
Hemorrhoids can be caused by a number of factors, aging, pregnancy, chronic diarrhea or constipation, sedentary lifestyle but it is an unhealthy diet that is by far the most frequent cause. While we cannot do anything about aging and pregnancy, eating habits are relatively easy to change, although willpower does come in handy, and they can bring about significant differences very quickly.
The reason why diet changes are effective in helping to treat and cure hemorrhoids is that replacing the foods that are difficult to digest with foods that are easier for the stomach to process and for the bowels to eliminate will reduce the pressure on the pelvic and anal area, making bowel movements easier, too.
The other reason why certain diet changes can reduce hemorrhoids is that the condition is the result of inflammatory processes in the body and the right diet can significantly reduce those negative processes, too.
What Is the Hemorrhoid Diet?
The diet is very simple:
- To improve the health of the digestive tract, consume high fiber foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains; if necessary, get sufficient fibers from diet supplements;
- Consume at least 8 glasses of pure water a day to keep hydrated and to help the fibers from your diet work their way through your digestive system;
- Avoid refined foods, especially foods rich in added sugars and other unsaturated carbs because they make bowel movements sluggish and defecation more strenuous, while also promoting the inflammatory processes that lead to hemorrhoids.
These simple changes will drastically improve your condition – try them starting today, and you will feel the positive effects within days.
